News about the Women’s Bible Study
~ Led by Lauren Franklin
The
Women’s
Bible Study will begin on
Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Our meeting
time is
10-11:30, as usual. Our meeting place is the
conference room across from the pastor’s
office, as usual.
Child care will be available. I have chosen a study of the Gospel of
John called,
John:
That You May Believe by Kathleen Buswell
Nielson.
This is a 20 week in-depth study. The
homework each week consists of 5 sets of
questions to be completed on 5 separate days. I
estimate that it takes 30-45 minutes each day to
answer the questions. Our classroom time will
consist of processing the answers to our
homework together. So completing the homework
will be important. [The nature of the questions
does not allow for “cramming” the entire weeks’
questions into one session on Tuesday night.]
You can order the book from the CEP Bookstore at
this link:
http://www.cepbookstore.com/p-7845-john-that-you-may-believe.aspx
It is $9.22 plus shipping. The shipping for
individual books is $6.25. If you want me to
order you a book so that the shipping cost can
be split, I must hear from you by
Monday, August 22. Let me know at church,
e-mail me at
ladifranklin@gmail.com, or call my cell
phone:
281-650-5919.
I want to urge you to begin reading
the book of John. The first week of homework for
this study is the most time consuming because on
Day 1 we are asked to read “quickly” through
chapters 1-10 of John and jot down our initial
thoughts and observations. On Day 2, we are
assigned, you got it, chapters 11-21 to read and
jot again. Even with my relaxed summer schedule,
I could not manage this on two consecutive days.
That is why I am suggesting that you read
through the book of John once between now and
the end of August so that when you begin your
Lesson One homework, you will not be
overwhelmed.
Lesson One should be completed before we
meet on September 7. We will be discussing the
answers to the questions in Lesson One, pages
1-12 of our book, at that meeting.
Now
a word of encouragement: I am currently on
Lesson 6 and have been wonderfully blessed by
this study. The Holy Spirit has been helping me
to better know Jesus Christ (and through Him,
the Father) through the intentional, meditative
study of God’s Word. I want all of you to be
impacted the same way. Please come do this study
with me and some of your other sisters in
Christ. I look forward to seeing you there.
